Bakernes Paradis history
Bakernes Paradis was in the old days a little smallholding, comprising a main house and a barn. In 1920 the site was taken over by the baker association in Stavanger. The place was then called the “Bakerfriends holiday home”. The bakers built “Reisehuset” and “Litlahuset”, which today stands in the yard, and they also converted the old barn. The bakers gathered with all their families during the holidays, and this has been the summer paradise of countless “baker kids” all through 90 years. They lead an easy life during the summers and arranged dance in the yard and bingo at the Bingo house, which they called “Løa”. Both cabin neighbors and local residents came to visit. We will happily tell you these stories when you come visit us.
The local boat had Lauvvik as its calls in the old days, heading towards Oltesvik, Dirdal and Frafjord. We will provide you boat transportation even today. Or a bus if that is preferable. The most common is to take the boat to Lauvvik and the the bus home after the event. Lauvvik is 20 minutes by car from Sandnes and 50 minutes by boat from Sandnes Brygge. 40 minutes by boat from Stavanger. A diverse landscape: At Bakernes Paradis we wish to convey both coastal and farm culture. Here we enjoy the sight of the beautiful Høgsfjorden with the mountain Uburen and straight ahead, the entrance to the Lysefjord. We frolic us on a 70 acres property and we have great hiking possibilities in the mountains opposite the fjord. We are happy to arrange guided tours on a pleasant evening. Maybe with a nice packed lunch or a milk chocolate in your bag.
Lauvvik offers itself to you with its fantastic location just next to the fjord and we have everything you need for a wonderful evening. Good food, dancing, activities, entertainment and relaxing around the fire.
Food from the chef’s heart!
Why do we differ from other restaurants in Stavanger region?
We set the long tables in the beautiful summer setting, where you can be served barbecue or seafood, if desired we also serve you a combination. If the weather is not playing on our side we have plenty of space indoors. We place great emphasis on the use of local products in our menus, where fish and meat from the grill will be our focus areas. We make delicious desserts and our halibut soup has become very popular. This is served the old way with large bowls that is passed around the table until your stomach is full. We bake our bread with our own recipes.
Entertainment for the evening: Laura, the oldest unmarried daughter of the chief baker guild. This is a lovely local entertainment after dinner. Laura finds her accordion or the guitar and makes a nice atmosphere, usually with sing-alongs. We happily light up the fire down at the boathouse, where we can make popcorn over the fire, and the guests can grill marshmallows on a stick.
Laura also welcomes you with an aperitif, amazing songs and great stories about Bakernes Paradise.
Laura is played by Anne Margrete Vikeså, who is a professional musician and singer who we use a lot on our events. Our guests can be enthralled by her amazing stories and song. Anne M. can also be ordered as a guide if it is requested. She will take you for an hour walk before arrival. We also have good partners when it comes to entertainment. We can offer everything from dance, DJ, Stand-up and great humor with any of the region’s best artists.
And yes, off course we also welcome artists from the rest of Norway and even the whole world.
The rental of any audio and lighting equipment will be in addition to hiring the artists. Price will be obtained from the supplier on request.
This just leaves us to say: Welcome to Bakernes Paradise at Lauvvik. We are looking forward to the pleasure of being your host!
